House Swiftblade background
House Swiftblade
House Swiftblade was formed after the death (and re-birth) of its spiritual leader, Eric Swiftblade of Illyria. Eric was a respected member of the Unicorns and was, amongst other things, bodyguard to Lady Adelana, Captain of the Praetorian Guard and Grendal's first Law Knight (Further details can be found in his background).
After his death and after meeting Oggy (details of which can be found in the document "Oggy - Ancestor of Balance), the group was formed from close friends and acquaintances of Eric, ranging from a variety of backgrounds and of varying Alignments. These friends had recently been made groupless and homeless and Eric saw his opportunity to unite these lost souls. Despite their inherent differences he brought them together and found that they could work in unity.
Eric was granted power by Oggy to take an Ethereal form as an Ancestral Spirit, so that he could appear to others. He gathered the chosen few and spoke to them all. In turn he persuaded them to join him and they agreed to work together, putting aside their differences in the name of Oggy.
Eric chose Durthrack, a Half Kender, as the group's leader. He was chaotic and Eric felt it apt that his own opposite should lead, balancing out his Lawful nature.
He chose 4 Lieutenants to help Durthrack. Shazell Calmar would represent Evil, her heart having been blackened in her youth. Balkerie Calmar her sister, would represent Neutral, for every pendulum needs a fulcrum to balance on. Calius Redfern would represent Law, an old friend of Eric's he wanted to help remember him. Calius was also to be the High Priest and group ritualist. Rosanna Geller, pure of heart, would represent Good. Durthrack himself would represent Chaos. Each of the Lieutenants would help steer the group, each force giving its own weight and keeping the balance true. Each of the five would also represent the group to Oggy, depending on which Alignment the problem fell into.
Also in the group as founding members were; Jaqueline Calmar, Mogwi Grasswalker, Risa Galo, Shannon, Dulpin Gargo and Torvak. A warrior, Aaron Wanderer, was asked to watch over the group as its protector. Although he could not join the group (due to other commitments) he accepted this task.
Each member of the group was expected to use some of the power granted by Oggy to support Calius as Ritualist. The group would use this power to further its aims. Each member was actively encouraged to follow their own alignment, but would always work in co-operation with other group members in the name of Oggy.
At this time, there have been changes to the group following the tragic deaths of Shazell and Durthrack, in Oggy's eyes, death and change are part of the whole and help keep balance.
Shazell was killed at the Autumn Accounting in 1099. She died bravely trying to protect others when ghouls attacked them.

The group continues to strive to be recognised and for Oggy to be revered. Initially they have put their efforts into the Unicorns and Incantor's guild, but who knows what the future holds. The most recent addition to its ranks, one Lavim Wilde, champion of Oggy was charged with gaining recognition for their ancestor. At his first meeting with the guild, they were impressed by his skill and dedication, they asked him to be a figurehead for the Light Incantors, to which he agreed.
Durthrack was killed when his wondering brought him to the Convocation of Guilds in 1100. His body was found with his heart ripped out, apparently the victim of a Skaven raiding party.
Group, faction and guild members alike will miss both.
Due to events, still a mystery to some, Balkerie change after her sister's death and some were surprised that she took up her mantle as the representative of Evil. Further, people were surprised that Eric chose her as leader, in the stead of Durthrack. Rumours abound that Eric is trying to appease her, for after Shazell's death Eric lent some of his own power to keep Shazell's spirit alive. He told her of his undying love and a wedding was arranged. Balkerie, jealous that her sister had taken away the one thing, that in life she had had, but that Shazell had not (due to a certain liaison) objected to the marriage and forced it to be cancelled. The affects of this Evil act are still not known.
Calius Redfern, having found disappointment in Law, took over from Balkerie representing Neutral. He felt as Ritualist, that this position would be less controversial.
Shannon took over as Law, one of the youngest members, yet with great potential.
Rosanna retired from representing good, having retired to less active pursuits. The death of Eric, her brother, having taken a toll that many hadn't realised. Heather Ansoff, a new member of the group, a kindly, but naive, Gypsy, took up this position.
Chaos was to be represented by Mogwi, an apt choice, most felt. Mogwi, being the most battle experienced, was also to be battle leader, a position delegated to him by Balkerie, a healer by nature.
